Old Jeff Coongate

I dig this reference to the character Jeff Coongate in the book "The one eyed poacher" by Ed W. Smith - He kinda reminds me of ol' Whisky Jack;

"Old Jeff Coongate was a chewer of tobacco, a drinker of bottled goods in any alcoholic form,
and a kind of marathon blasphemer. He was a sworn breaker of game laws, and an enemy of
the State. He was a jacklighter of deer, a gill-netter of salmon, a dynamiter of trout, and
above all else a plotter against the lives of game wardens. In fact, he was currently in the
clink for shooting the stern off a game warden's canoe with an automatic shotgun."
