This afternoon, I began sorting the sundry packs and other MRE Items My friend Matt and I pulled out of the dumpsters. Things like Matches, toilet paper, moist towelettes, salt, sugar, drink mixes, various spices etc.
These may seem like mundane items now but in a PAW scenario things like Matches and Toilet paper will be at a premium and folks will trade or Barter for things like this.
As far as these types of items go, Matt and I are sitting in the fabled "Cat Bird seat". Some other things that would be good as barter are Bleach (for water purification and sanitizing),Ammo - an old fart from my past once told me that the 3 most common calibers in the USA are 12 guage, 30.06 and .22 - buy lots of it. Hells bells, Id trade 6 to 10 .22 rounds for a coupla chickens.
Soap, liguid, bar or laundry detergent, lantern mantels, small nails, "cheater" reading glasses, all manner of matches, trioxane heat tabs, small sewing kits,mason jars, lids and rings, etc. The list goes on.
I just wanted to share this.

ReplyDeleteI am think the same. I often wonder why people talk about gold for bartering. I would rather have some food than a bar of gold if my family is hungry.
I agree Abo, you cant eat gold. I know personally that if I had a commodity to trade , I would not accept gold or silver in return. I would only take useful or practical items.
